DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES AND METHODS

3D AFFECT GLUE METHODS BACKING BOARDS FILLINGS

I hope these different techniques and methods help in making up your art and crafts I have experimented with a lot of different methods and put them together here

TRACING OR DUPLICATING AN IMAGE FROM ONE MEDIA TO ANOTHER

carbon paper Place your carbon black side down on a blank sheet of paper, put your picture on top of the carbon paper and while holding all three papers steady (no moving allowed) trace over your picture making sure each time looking to see if all of your picture has come out on the blank paper but still holding all together, carbon papers differ, while one is very dark blue and your lines will be REALLY blue and the other black whcih one has to push down quite hard for this to make an impression
pencil using tracing paper

Put the tracing paper over your picture and literally re-draw the picture onto the tracing paper in a soft pencil. Once this has been done turn your tracing paper over with the pencil marks facing down upon your blank sheet of paper. Re-draw this picture over again going over all the same lines and this will be transferred onto your blank paper. But your picture will be in the reverse to what it was. UNLESS you re-draw the picture once again on the other side of the tracing paper, another PAINFUL lengthy process

The alternative to this is just rubbing with another pencil across the entire back page of your pencil stencil which will also transfer the image. Painful and lengthy process but works well, no lines are lost

window tracing Place a blank paper over your picture and place this up against a window obviously during day light hours and you will be able to see your picture quite clearly if it has strong lines, if not then go over the lines before hand and then trace this
pen pressing Draw in thick ball point pen over your picture all details, then place this ink down upon a blank paper, re-draw the picture and hopefully your ball point ink will show through quite clearly

3D PAPER AFFECTS GIVING HEIGHT AND DEPTH TO PAPER IMAGES

sticky putty Break off small pieces of sticky putty and place them at points on the back of your image you have cut out where the whole image will be supported throughout
double sided tape

Cut small pieces of double sided tape out with a scissors and place these at the back of your image piece also making sure the image is supported throughout

thick cardboard Cut out your picture or the piece that you want to stand up off the paper and trace around this piece onto thick cardboard, if it is a picture with many edges this is probably not your best way to go. Anyway if it has fairly smooth edges cut the tracing of the picture out in the cardboard and paste your picture onto this which will give your picture piece depth
cardboard layers Using thin cardboard you can cut out many tracings of your image in cardboard and paste them all together with your main image at the top
silicone Silicone works very well instead of sticky putty making sure each blob is the same height and you don't have to wait for anything to dry

DIFFERENT GLUE METHODS

bostik clear adhestive Fantastic glue for paper, cardboard for small areas
Gemken Glue

Great for paper and cardboard over a large area

canvas blocked

very light and convenienct only one has to make your picture fit the canvas
